Responsibilities
? Design, develop, and test embedded software for personal protective and gas detection equipment.
? Actively participate in cross-functional project teams in the development of new MSA products.
? Assume technical leadership of software development for individual project efforts.
? Be engaged in our MSA Software Community efforts for continuous review and improvement of software development processes and tools.
? Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software test and manufacturing engineers to ensure products are delivered on time, while meeting functional, performance and quality requirements.

Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of:
? Strong embedded software development skills in C
? Real Time Operating Systems
? Version control tools (Git, SVN) and issue tracking tools
Proven ability of:
? Implementation experience with processor communications interfaces, such as I2C, SPI, UART
? Reading and understanding circuit schematics
? Debugging and software/hardware integration skills
? Familiarity with the use of laboratory equipment, such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
? Excellent communications skills, written and verbal in English
? Must be a team player, have the ability and desire to work in a global, multi-cultural environment
? Ability to travel domestically/internationally up to 10% of the time
Preferred:
? Experience with Python scripting language
? Experience with embedded system programming, including constrained devices and low power systems
? Exposure to working with BLE/WiFi chipsets and associated protocols (GATT / ZigBee /802.15.4/6LoWPAN/etc.
? Hands-on development experience with ARM Cortex processors
? Test-first development mindset, experience with software testing
? Experience with continuous integration tools (Bamboo, Jenkins)
? Familiarity with Atlassian tools
? Experience with Agile development process and SCRUM

Education and experience required:
? BSCE, BSEE or relevant technical discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
? This position is available at two different career levels (Associate Principal Engineer / Principal Engineer I) based upon experience and education:
? This position requires 7 years of relevant experience
? MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience

MSA China

In 1987, MSA established the first joint venture in the safety industry of China at Wuxi, China. In 2003, MSA set up its China Headquarter in Shanghai. In September 2008, a new manufacturing plant and R&D center with a planned total investment of USD 38 million went into operation at Suzhou to meet the fast growth of MSA China.
